Those were the 15 Senators that voted against cloture; that, in essence, voted to keep the 4th Amendment — you know, the one that once upon a time kept you from being searched wantonly — on life support, and not kill it off, Jack Kevorkian-style.

Those Senators — 13 men and 2 women — were the only ones that stood up and gave our civic creed more than the lip service that everyone will be paying it next week, in between the fireworks.

Yeah, there are some surprises — I mean, Chuck Schumer? (the mind goggles) — but largely, it was the usual suspects.

People ask me why I’m depressed and angry. You expect this from the Republicans, but 34 other Democrats crossed the line and voted to, essentially, spit on the 4th Amendment.

Seriously — what’s the point? Why should I bother, anymore?
